Seems like this porject is taking way to long, for some reason customs returned the screen to the states, they will be sending another today.

So I quickly smashed up some schematics, hope it helps to give you an idea of what's going to happen. I might have forgotten something..

Legend will be as follows:

Brown Line = Sound cable/wire
Light Grey = Remote wire
Dark Grey = Internal Connection / Onboard Connection
Red Line = Postive 12/5v Cable/Wire
Blue line = USB Cable
Green Line = XGA Cable

So just to round it up, the total cost thus far is: R11777.27

The could do this exactly the same but dramatically cheaper, I ordered all my parts with Express mail, so each item I paid round about $50-70 shipping (R419.62 - R587.47).

Still need to be done:
Build sub-woofer enclosure
Buy Wiring

Still waiting for:
Climate control relocation unit
Front Bezel/facia for LCD
LCD

Speed?

The most expensive was the sound.

What parts will you be using

Great stuff, where did you buy the screen from? What front end are you going to use?? I had a look at riderunner as well last night, it's open source

Centrafuse is my choice in frontend atm, but it's to whiny about specific hardware you need to use

i will be using RIDE RUNNER. it is free and really customizable. my chinese agent sourced the screen for me.

I am also configuring riderunner now, themes just look abit oldnish. but the bluetooth on the mobo is not supported by any of the frontends.

So i need to find a bluesoleil dongle, and will use the onboard as a dedicated diagnostics connection (the elm327 is bluetooth)

So I am very excited, it seems that the LCD will be delivered today, so then I can start stripping the car and doing the wiring.

I will post more on this later.

So here is a screenie of riderunner frontend.

I've been playing with rr for a while, nice and customisable.

Yeah, but think I will be doing my own theme, I like the look and feel of centrafuse, but like the opensource of riderunner, So will do a bmw theme of my own for riderunner.

Hi Guys,

Just another update.

Below is a picture of someone that used a very similar case to mine, except mine is not as tall as this one, but I will use the same installation for the box..

You will also noticed on the middle picture that the PC will be pulling in clean air.

Cool, but make sure when you cut the carpet to do a nicer job than that guy did!
