Yeah it is very common, and has a lot of options for fixing. I just like this one coz it doesnt involve any soldering/plug replacement etc.

yeah, sort of like " We know this might happen to your luxury german sedan, so we built in an easy fix, but we'll still charge you ridiculously to fix it"

Well opened my rear light unit an lo and behold, it does not have that convenient tab there. Could this be an aftermarket unit on my car?
I was ready with everything to fix this once and for all.
Guess I will have to attach my own tab via soldering or just with a screw.
Damn these cars.

Sorry bud, didn't check whether the taillights differed between facelift and non-facelift. If you're soldering a new tab, just make sure its ground and not positive...
