e46 brakes replacement time!

Hi all!

Tomorrow (Tues 21 Aug) I will be replacing my e46 320i Rear brake pads and discs (DIY), I have phoned around for prices on parts and Im thinking of buying ATE disks and pads...

The best price ive got so far is R590 for the disks and R336 for the pads from Midas in Hillfox.

Is there any supplier that could be cheaper possibly? I tried with Midas Autozone, Goldwagen and Diesel elec.

The dealers charge R950 for the discs and R862 for the pads

Get some good penetrating oil to help getting those rear disks off the hubs - let it soak for a while and then a few firm whacks of a hammer will release the disks. And um, wear some gloves - messy job!! :thumbs:

Use some anti-seize grease like copper grease for the backs of the pads that go against the calliper and piston...

And don't forget to clean the hubs after you removed the old discs. I use a steal brush and then steel wool to clean the hub. It has to be shiny before you replace the discs. If there are spots that you cannot remove with the brush and steel wool use some 1000 sandpaper.:thumbs:

@ philipfoglar: Job done already wish I had read about the penetrating oil first those disks were a bitch to get off!!! I used the copper grease generously!!
