E46 Audio Upgrade

Hi

I have a 2004 318i and it has the standard BMW Business audio system. The sound quality is terrible; very very little bass and when I turn up the volume too high, the sound quality becomes even worse.

I don't want anything hectic, not trying to host a street party I just want good quality sound

Does anybody have any ideas about how or where I can upgrade the system? Will changing the speakers be enough?

P.S. My pockets aren't very deep

For starters

Decent Hi to low converter, small 4 channel amp, and replace factory front speakers with a decent brand split system.

When you get some more money later on, add another amp and a sub

Couple of guys im sure, but I use Radio Technique in PTA.

Any Rockford Fosgate dealer will sell you good stuff, but i have been out the game so long I dont know whats good and what is rubbish these days.

Suliman at Hygrade Autosound can do a basic install for you. They work on quite alot of BMW's so know all the tricks of getting good sound in them. For a basic system, look at installing the Hertz Energy split system.
