e46 aircon problem

Would anyone be able to tell me what could be the reason for only hot air coming out of the floor air vents. Even when the air con is on and on the lowest it just blasts out hot air. All the other air vents are fine...

Thanks

had similar problem on my e36 318i - turned out to be the 2 solenoid valves that control your in car climate. they got stuck open and was fighting against the air con :( took the valves off - cleaned them and tested them but they stayed open all the time - went looking for a replacement but was not prepared to pay R1000 for a 2nd hand one with no guarantee and as I hardly ever use the heater, I removed solenoid valves and plugged the holes permanently!

Mate , i had the exact same problem on my 330d, all it was is a fuse.check your fuses out before attempting anything. I did this a year ago and its 100% since then.

The air vents are fine meaning this is set correctly:

Sounds like the control module is stuffed.
Final stage resistor normally sets the blower full blast all the time, permanently off or having a mind of its own, therefore I doubt if this is the issue.
Perhaps a servo motor is not functional or the control module is bust.

HA HA! My FSR packed up yesterday! What a horrid job, that one T20 that sits just out of sight above the stepper motor is the problem, once you get him lose the rest is easy. This guide saved me http://www.diablo944.co.uk/Hedgehogimageset.pdf :praise: Good luck to anyone who has to do this, the part cost me R820 @ local BMW agent.

My car does this too :fencelook:

Mine was possessed, was doing its own thing, would even run when the car was off! This is worst case cause it can drain your battery. I was quoted R2200 @ my local BMW specialist to do the job so opted for the DIY option, all in all took about 2 hours but saved myself R1500.

I think I'm gonna go buy a huge bag of fuses and change all of mine and see what other new stuff my car will do :fencelook:
