E46 Air-Conditioning Troubleshooting

My car is booked in at Independent Car radio and Air Conditioning this coming Monday morning for inspection/diagnostics of the AC system. Will let you know what they say.

Update: Just got car back and the car is sorted now. They evacuated the system and refilled the correct quantities of oil and refrigerant. Car blows ice cold air from all vents now. Very happy, to say the least.

Technician said that my car had most probably an air-lock and hence the system needed to be evacuated and re-filled. Will be taking the car back in two-weeks to check the pressure and ensure there are no leaks.

Update: Over a year now since the evac and refill and my car is still blowing ice cold air all-round. In comparison, it is the coldest air-conditioning system I have yet to experience in a car. This system really understands the word "chill".

I highly suggest anybody with temperamental HVAC systems in their cars to get the system evacuated and refilled with correct quantities. Money well spent.

An evac and recharge is about R800.

My car stopped blowing cold air about a week ago. Had to drive with the windows open.

I took it to get re-gassed in Centurion.

15 min later and R940 lighter. :skit: They did an evac and re-gas.

Aircon feels like a freezer again.:ty:
Hopefully it lasts another 16 years. . .

Do anyone knows a good aircon company in the western cape area , Vredenburg/ Saldanha or Worcester & Cape town.?
