Hmmm...so i'm thinking of trading my 04 sportspack 330i in for a 03 330d but i'm two minded because of turbo issues with my previous 320d:dunno:
Also my car got 100900km on the clock and the diesel got about 160000 on the clock and i'm not sure if the price they offered me is good or bad R120 000
The pricetag on the diesel is R135 000
so what do you fellow fanatics think i should do???
I'm just thinking that my car got less mileage and also a later model..so why is the diesel more????

I would stick to the 330i. (In my opinion).

If there is nothing wrong with your car, and you know what you have, I would keep it status quo.

I'm with Jandre on this, speedy you just have an itch that needs to be scratched. Do a mod or two on your car.

If you looking at getting the 330d because of the cost of fuel, I did all these calculations already, in the 3 years that I have owned my 320i I have paid less in expenses including fuel, than the 18 months in which I owned my 320d. Hows that for a NON-savings.

Uh, how 'bout no, buddy.

Your 330i is newer, both in years and mileage, and unless there's something I've missed, the diesel's usually lose value faster. ie you should be making a profit on this deal (I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong *braces for a slap*).

I think they're trying to make a quick buck of a gentleman with good taste.

Stick with the 330i mate :thumb:

The problem is they offer R120 000 for your 330i but then 1 week later they sell it for R145 000 where if you had the 330d they would probably only offer you like R100 000 for it. ie what I'm trying to say is keep the 330i!:thumb: Besides it sounds so much better at 2500-3500 rpm, that I6 BMW gargle vs a tractor:)

Bud keep the 330i! The 330d is an awesome car, but if thats the deal as you described above its a no-brainer, gotta keep the 330i! R135000 for an 03 330d with 160 on is first of all way too much, and like you've said you gonna have to pay in for a car which is a year older with 60k km more mileage on!

Thanx for the advice guys.. yeah i decided also to keep my 330:thumbsup:
dont know what came over me..:hammerhead:
also the tractor actually had 130 000 km on her and not 160 000 but still when i test drove her something felt missing though...the sound of the 330 petrol even at low revs...
the wife also agreed with all u guys as she fell inlove with the 330 herself but would consider a 1 series though:thinking:
anyway.. thanx again guys

Not to mention the fact that diesels become alot more costly with more mileage. Service parts are more expensive and service intervals are closer together...Besides the fuel saving, I really don't see the point of diesel cars.

dude keep the 330i in your case :thumb:

as for diesels . . .

i traded my 04 325ci for a 05 330d ind

it has 85k on the clock - bal of plan

you can't get enough of the low down torque -410NM :pimp:

my bakkie has close to 500 00km without any engine/turbo repairs:dropjaw:

diesels are very costly:cursin: -but if maintained well:shocked: - it should last forever

just my opinion

hehe.. ok im gonna put in my 2c here too :)

so i guess its no secret i love my diesel, seeing i own a 330d. i own 2 petrol turbo's from the land of the rising sun too, love em too.. but here is the bombshell : i make the prediction that in 20 years time there will be no such thing as a petrol car anymore, diesel is the future of motorcars weather we like it or not :mmm:

Well I would wager that neither petrol nor diesel is the future for cars

Regardless if we run out of crude oil, we will still be able to use current petrol and diesel engines. With modification, diesels can run on chip oil (made from sun flowers) and petrol cars can run on biofuel such as ethanol... :thumb:
