 Hello gents :)

OK, so after I read this morning that SS did a auto to manual conversion in Bloem & the labour Dyno tech asked were'nt bad at all. I'm seriously considering this as my auto box will eventually go, it's just a matter of time.

*Gizmo to isle three, Gizmo to isle three*or who ever can help me on this*

What parts do I need for this conversion? Please give me as much info as possible & a rough estimate of what the parts would cost.

EDIT: SS, I've just spoken to Dewalt & they said it's no issue to do the auto to manual conversion. They said I should source the parts from a 328i, but I'd ideally want a 6 speed. Hopefulle Gizmo will be able to help out with those great prices of his.

my parts alone cost me +- R12 000.then add R2000 for labour.what is lekka i kept my auto diff so this made my gear ratios slightly shorter and nippier, also make it slightly heavier on juice.one thing though, your gonna loose ur cruise control because of this conversion, not sure if there is a way to wire around this problem.i know the e36 328 had a wiring trick to get the cruise control working.if the auto box on the way out take it back to the place u bought it,if you got this car on HP then u have a month to take it back and they must fix all the problems....

Yeah, 12k aint bad.

I'm not really sure if the auto box is on it's way out. Gears not slipping & it pulls like a train. I just had the transmission light error once & haven't had it again, switched the car off & it went away. The problem is, I did my own financing & essentially paid cash for the car, so no taking it back. If I can get away with R15-18k on the conversion then I'm happy & I'l be able to afford it.

Can someone please compile a parts list for me & what they would cost individually?

For something like this, Gizmo, Clutchplate and SirSparky is the best people to talk to.

The rest of us, excluding a few technical wizzes, will probably sell our car and buy a manual

I'm taking the car to Dynotech tomorrow morning to have it checked out properly. If there's anything wrong with it, the place where I bought it said they'll pay to fix it.

I'm not going to do the conversion just yet, if the tranny is fine I'll do it the moment I get issues with it, or @ the end of next year.

I'll make a trip to Gizmo (iirc he's in Joburg somewhere?) to get the parts from him & the guys @ Dynotech will do the conversion aswell. SS said it took them a week to do it, so I won't have to wait an eternity to get the car back.

Would it not be cheaper to fix a broken auto box, than install a manual box.... unless you really want a manual instead of auto.
