Howzit guys...so as the thread titles says...

2004, 330d, 150 000km on clock, Auto, Sunroof... R120 000

Is this a worthly buy? Is te milage not too high? Hows the maintainance on these cars? How strong are the turbos and engines?

Currently drive a Seat Ibiza Cupra TDi...and looking for a weekend car to mess around with... software exhaust only for now...hehehehe...

hehehehe..why whats wrong with that?:thinker:

I use my cupra everyday for work, i race it, i need another car to play around with. Imagine software, exhaust, some small tweaks on the 330d...it will runn mad!

Look at ///Most1ted.... 330d's are doing damage. his is the E90 i know...this is E46 im talking about..

either this 330d or a Honda Accord Type S:clap:

From what I've gathered on this forum, the pre 2005 330d autos have a kak gearbox, it can't handle the torque, so I would'nt recommend putting sw on that car. Get either a manual or a 2005 auto

Ok thanks 1lum1nat1....

Guess that strikes that car out...:bawling:

Still looking though...would be nice to have a 330d.

What turbos are in the 330d? GT or GTB's?

Not sure about the turbo's, Netercol and P1000 (I'm sure there's others as well) know quite a lot about these cars. There's nothing wrong with the manuals though, and I'd prefer a 6 speed manaul as well.

The 330d auto gearboxes can barely handle the torque as standard, there is no room to move within.

So unless you get a manual, I would not advise in tuning the auto box.

If you want a weekend toy with plenty potential. 540 FTW !!!!!!

Either an E34 (around 25k) or a E39 (around 70kish for a nice one)

The M60/M62 motors are a work of art....

price is a bit on the high side for that milage, also as others stated here, rather avoid the auto's. i know too many people that have had endless troubles with the e46 auto boxes. find a six speed manual and you wont look back :)

the turbo on the 330d is a GT2260 vnt unit with plain sleeve bearings. it is just about the biggest turbo out there on any turbo diesel passenger vehicle. its a reasonably robust turbo from what ive heard/seen/experienced..

Dude, you already have a diesel, why the fark would you want another one for a weekend car? Computer says NO!

Seriously, get a 330i then at least, LOADS more fun and make sure it's manual or look for a nice E36 M3 but WTF is fun about an auto diesel?

I had a 2005 E46 330d auto that was chipped. I used it as a daily driver, was OK to throw it around now and then but as a weekend toy, WTF?

SoulBlade, maybe he saw that e[pisone of top gear where they used a 330d for that 24 hour race...
so maybe now he wants to get a second 330d as a weekend car :dunno:

Haha..I saw that episode as well, hectic!

I agree with the posts above, rather go for something that you can upgrade more stuff on, the 330d auto will be very limited in the upgrade department...

Let us know what you decided on..

He'd be better off using the cash he wants to piss away on this by adding it to his Cupra and trading it on a E90 330d or 335i, no use having two diesels :hammerhead:
