Howsit guys,
i thought i'd post up some info incase anyone else comes across this same problem.
i was driving around this weekend, and noticed the rev counter bouncing during idle especially when coming to a stop at a traffic light. about 30 mins after that, the engine light had come on. i pulled over and did a code check, and it brought up p0171 and p0174. these are lean codes. i cleared the codes and then kept going to see if they'd come up again.
when i got to my stop, i checked again, and found that p0171 came up...but p0174 didnt.....and there was NO engine light. the rev counter was still bouncing around though.
when i drove home, the engine light came on after about 30 mins or so. pulled over and found both codes up again.
anyhooo... i looked around the intake and found the intake boot to have come apart. there was a huge gap. i made a plan to seal it, as i cant get the spare locally at all and now all the codes have gone away and everything is back to normal.
so, just a heads up, it seems the engine light only comes on when both codes get tripped....although your car might run poorly due to a small leak and just one code without any engine light.
