Hey there, I am new member and think it is awesome that a place like this exists.

I was just wondering if anyone can explain to me why my 325 makes a whistle sound when I rev it to just over 4800rpm?

Is this normal? I think I like it but hope it is ok..

Haha, that would be kiff. Had GTI before so know the whole turbo thing. This is a distinctive whistle, not a turbo sound.

you know if its coming from your exhaust or your engine?? i know the flap in my exhaust didn open an close properly and at certain revs my car used to whistle could just be that on yours, if the noise is coming from exhaust rock golf t mod and see if whistle goes away(unplug the vacuum pipe for the flap in your exhaust its just ontop of your one tailpipe and plug it with something like a golf t) theres a thread on it on the forum

I think you should have the flux capasitor reprogrammed with the words to the songs. This will eliminate the whistle.

Haha, just kidding bud..

It might also be a faulty PCV valve.

I have the same sound with my 328. Makes the same whistle sound at 3000 rpm. Had tried to look for the turbo but no luck yet :bawling:

Well, I do not think its an exhaust leak, the sound would be much louder if there was an exhaust leak.

You have a pressure leak somewhere on the intake manifold, or one of the vacuum pipes, check around all pipe couplings, look around plastic fittings, that sort of thing...

Also Jandre could be quite right, it may be a PCV valve as well.
