I need help with my e46 320d in cold and only in cold conditions this car starts but emediatly shuts of again we changed the glo plugs diagnostics has no truble codes i have tried the spear keys the disel pump is working fine even the guys at bmw dont know what to make of this. At around 10 in the morning when the weather heats up the thing starts like a champ. Once started drives like the day we bought it.
Im generally quite good with cars but this has me down please provide your input to see if we can figure out this thing .

Well Bmw workshop techies are idiots. I suspect your issue is crank position sensor related. I also came across this problem with another E46 diesel a few years ago.

Agree with Nikhil,
BMW technicians are idiots, I also trust Nikhil on his diagnostics, this youngster knows his shit, and he knows more than the BMW techies

There is a idler control valve that can also cause these types of problems, I had this on my E36. So maybe look at this also, below is a link to a E46's one and cleaning the little thing.

good luck and hope you get it sorted, but does the car not idle (meaning that you take you foot of the gas pedal and the car dies or does it die even while you have your foot on the gas pedal revving)
