E46 320d boost problems

Hi there. I apologise if the question has been asked before. I have not read through the other posts.

I have a 2003 E46 320d. I'm having a complete power loss.

1) i have checked all vacuum hoses
2) i have cleaned the egr valve
3) removed swirl flaps
4) done a complete service
5) checked boost pipes
6) turbo was reconed 4 months ago (car was pulling like hell)

the only thing that hasn't been done yet is a diagnostic, the local bmw mechanic can't do it because (acording to him) of a low voltage output.

I tested the battery = 12v
I tested the altenator = 14v

Please I need help.

ah thats a pity.. im in pretoria and i might have been able to help with reading error codes..

either way, doing a diagnostics scan is the recommended next step, maybe somebody closer to you can chip in and help..

I was thinking of taking the car to BMW for the diagnostics, just to see what errors are thrown out if any. The egr valve does not move easily by hand, is that normal? There is only boost after 3000rpm. Could it be because of a sticky valve?

Thanks for the offer, i might just take you up on it. I don't have any wheels at the moment as I started stripping again this morning. I'm gonna fit a new egr valve and check all hoses again. I will get back to you whether i had any sucsess. thanks again!

Finished fitting new egr, fitted new performance silicone vacuum hoses...still nothing. I still only get boost at 3000rpm.

Sounds like it could be the pressure converter. See if the turbo actuator moves when you start the car.

Hi all

I have a 320d 2003 E46 , had to change engine , and now i have no boost at all , replaced with new vacuum hoses on whole vacuum system. checked actuators , even changed maf sensor from old engine, also took turbo from old engine and put it in , turbo was recon'ed by turbo exchange , and done an excellent job , and i would recommend them any time. But still absolute no power , I am out of ideas now, i have a Delphi diagnostic tool and it did not show any severe codes , and the ones that were stored was cleared , please can anyone help or give advise on what to do next
