e46 318i service advice needed

Hi,

I'm planning a little dyi service on my pre f/l 318i. Need advice on plugs, fuel and air filter.

Is there any spesific brand I should get or will the "generic" midas stuff work ok? Also, what is the gap on the spark plug supposed to be?

How difficult is it to replace fuel filter?

For the plugs and filters I just go to the dealers, their priced on these kinds of stuff is not that bad.

fuel filter is easy. Undo some clamps and bracket and take off. Just remeber it holds some fuel so have bucket ready and DONT LOOK IN THE HOLE. ;)

Plugs get either @ dealer or Diesel electric for the Bosch ones.. Their prices are similar but If Diesel electrics close then get them there
Pugs @ dealer were like R70 each & at diesel electric was R68 each.. I was @ diesel electric anyway getting MAF so just got plugs there.

Filters: Air & oil Get from the dealer...oil Filter is about R100 including VAT & O-rings & sump washer Air filters about R70.. and was R85 @ my local spares shop..

oil - Depends on what Mileage & what oil you using now??
do an engine flush & then use some Shell helix HX7 (10w40) or Ultra 5w40.. Car takes 4Litres

Fuel filter as spy said is not too difficult.. Just need to find it :)

Remember to put some copper grease on the threads of the plugs to aid in easier removal next time

And Lastly, take pictures & post the DIY for us to look @

just had an oil service done at BMW and I was pleasantly surprised. So need for the oil filters etc

I will try to document the other parts as far as I possibly can and post it.

Thanks for the advice
