E46 318i Hidden functions

A wile back I discovered a article relating to the hidden functions of all BMW's, can't really remember where it was, but there is one specific one I like to use alot, it's the 5.1 function (Est KM to next refuel), now my question is, how accurate can this be? I have previously driven my BMW when it said 1KM left, but yesterday I had allready driven like 300+KM and could still go about 500?, it seems alot for a 2000 318I?

Does anyone else here use those functions?

The problem it it all depends on how you drive. If i am not mistaken it calculates on the last 10km driving style.

I avg 650km on a tank with gopher.

the calculation is done on only the last few km's fuel consumption. Thus if you floor is from robot to robot you will see it drop quick, but then you drive like grandma for a bit and see it go up again to a point. I trust my fuel gauge and distance so far on tank much more.

Instead of that "hidden" Function.. get yourself an indicator stalk with the BC button on it, get it fitted & coded & then you have OBC functions :)

Basically you go to a scrap yard.. Buy a indicator stalk with the BC button on it..

Then you disconnect your battery for 30 minutes.. then remove your airbag, and then indicator stalk & replace it with the new one..

then you fit all together again..

then you get someone to code the car so it knows the OBC function should be accessible

The indicator stalk, is it from another model BMW (specific one) or any? Does the function display auto on the dash? or should i still go into test mode and enable it?
