Hi Guys.
I need a little help please. My wife's car 2000 E46 318i has been giving some hassles lately. Some of the electronics on the dash are not showing up. The indicator is woking, but no turn signal is shown on the dash. Handbrake is up - no warning light. Boot will not open from the inside - she has to stop the car and use the remote.
Could this be the ECU that is on it's way out? I am not electrically or mechanically minded, so any advice of what it might be would be appreciated.
Secondly, there is also a smell of petrol in the cab - not always, just at random times. I can't say it is after driving on a dirt road, after heavy acceleration or anything - it is completely random. Could it be the fuel pump seal that is perished? Is the fuel pump under the rear seat?
Sorry for the daft questions, but I need to see if I can get this sorted myself as we stay in the middle of nowhere and there are not too many decent auto electricians in my part of the Northern Cape.
Any info will be more than appreciated!
thanks chaps
