Been standing for awhile.
1997/1998 540i Touring , about 286000kms on the clock, which is not working.
Lots to fix, should keep dad busy for a few months

2000 E39 M5...amazing car but unsure how long I’ll be holding onto it for. Bought it around February this year.

I just bought a 525i e39 face lift,everything is super except the radio.it works for few minutes the the sound just disappear but it the radio its on. i have changed all the fuse.sometimes when i start the car it just work but for few minutes.what might be the problem.please help.

2001 E39 530i Auto 174k kms
Brought her at 172k kms and have done a bit of maintenance and restoration in the 2k kms so far
Cooling System:
- New radiator, water pump, expansion tank, fan clutch, thermostat, upper and lower radiator hoses, return hose and heater hose.
Motor:
- Replaced valve cover gasket and oil filter housing gasket.
- Replaced idler Pulley and water pump pulley
Service Items:
- Plugs, Fuel Filter, Air Filter, Oil Filter & Oil Service
Suspension:
- Solid all around except the tie rods which I will be doing over the weekend. I also have some upgrades in terms of the rear sway bar and some decent sport shocks and springs planned or even coil overs - Still shopping around for options.
Cosmetics:
- Headlight restoration including gloss clear coat
- Paint correction (still some minor sun fade to be sorted out as well and front and rear bumper respray)
All round she is in pretty good shape.

Hi guys I'm busy building a 540i m-sport 1999 model m62tu E39 6 speed manual it's getting costly now as I'm not getting parts for it I have soo far completed the engine car is in a good condition would just like to find out if the car is of value to continue the build from wat I understand it's limited if u guys can please advise thank u

You will likely spend more than it is worth , E39 M5 is between 220 and 300 so you will need to be under that range.

I have spent about 45 including the cars price worked out I'm going to need to spend another 25 to finish up with detailing soo wat would u suggest

Good afternoon gents.
I'm still quite new to the forum. I bought a 1999/2000 e39 528i manual a few months ago. I'm still learning a lot about these cars and trying to do DIY's as much as possible to learn a little more.
Recently replaced the clutch. Was wonder if anyone could point me in the direction of a "short shifter" as the throw feels extremely long.
I was also hoping someone here can tell me where I could find a new/used front bumper.
Any advise on what to keep an eye on mechanically? I would like to get the car back to its former glory.
Also, who supplies VANOS seals?
If anyone is willing to share some e39 knowledge with me, I'd really appreciate it.
I'll post pictures soon. Just need to get the car properly cleaned first.
