I have a beutiful white 1999 E39 528i with 180K on the clock. Bought the car in exelent condition in august this year at an exellent price. It is stock standard at the moment. It is an upgrade from my E34 520i.

Alpine white 2003 530d e39 268009km

Why does my booklet state SA spec is 135kW 390Nm? Post 2001 is supposed to be 142kW 410Nm, but I suspect the booklet is correct(I can feel the torque limiting on gearchange that they had on the 135kW motor with A5S360R gearbox).

Hi I just had a power run done yesterday, my 530d is doing about 135kw and 360Nm

Will be removing the cats and doing another run, just for interest sake

By the way the engine management works, removing the cats alone will have no effect on output power. Dyno runs are also pretty useless for getting absolute power levels, and are only really useful for comparisons, since none are really calibrated.

What woudl the effect be, everybody I speak to says remove the cats and you'll have smoother performance etc

The turbo will run cooler and spool up a tiny bit faster. Off course, if it was clogged, it might free up suppressed horses again... The running cooler part allows you to get more gains out of a map, but I would not suggest you think about going that route if your car is automatic like 98% of them...

This being the registry, please post up details of your car, and preferably pics.

Any other suggestions to beef up the torque and nicer sound
