Hi there.

My rear suspension needs some tlc. Now on of the many thing that I want to replace is my 4 massive subframe bushes. Has anyone done this? Done at home?

My search on forums give that one needs a special tool which is not cheap.

Any feedback would be nice.

You can make the special tool, or even have it made by someone like technician on the forum, it is not a very complicated tool, expecially if it only needs to be used once.

Just keep in mind that the touring has different bushes than the sedan. Use the online DIY writeups, there are a couple.

an engineering shop can make the tool... ive orders some powerflex subframe bushes for my car they cost R1400 im sure you can get rubber ones for less, but i dont want to drop my subframe again if i dont have too...

The touring has fluid filled rear subframe bushes. I don't think its a good idea to go for solid rubber of poly, the suspension setup on the touring is quite a bit different to other BMW's and that is why they are fluid filled. (and that is why they don't last very long)

then i would definitely not go poly on a touring... i would look into using solid rubber though dropping the subframe is not a small job... if the rubber ones dont cause huge problems i would use them...
