Gents,

My PDC on my 525iT is not working - when reverse is engaged it beeps and then thats it :YesNo:.............. what could be the problem and who could i take it to to resolve the issue

Secondly - the radio nob is not working correctly - sometimes when i try to turn down the volume it turns it up........ have to then use the steering controls volume to adjust, also does anyone know who i could get to rectify.:skit:

I am in Cape Town - northern suburbs!

Thanks in advance

My E39's volume control is also that way. A fix will mean digging inside the radio but I haven't found somebody that I trust enough for that. So I live with it.

I might be wrong, but on my E39, I recal that the volume control button has a very sensitive "Pre-Set" volume control, and just the slightest touch makes it jump to the preset volume

maybe have a look in the "radio booklet" that came with the car, on how to delete the "Pre-Set" volume functions first, then the volume button should work as designed, without going to an increased "Pre-Set" volume level.

I know mine does this, and has happened that the passenger just lightly bumps the volume control knob, causing it to suddenly go to a much higher "Pre-Set" setting....gives me a fright every time.

Been too lazy to study the booklet, on how to delete the "Pre-Set" volume settings

I have the same radio knob problem. Will try Ralf's advice as above. Otherwise I hardy touch the thing and simply use the steering controls which I prefer anyway (read lazy).

The PDC sounds like it has a wire loose somewhere. Strip off the bumper and do a check. Take it from there.

I have the same volume knob problem as everyone above... Notice a trend here?

PDC beep could be a loose wire as Chef mentioned or a dead sensor AFAIK

This volume knob thing is more common than I thought

I thought it was only me and never bothered to research it. Sometimes it proves itself handy because my passengers get a fright when they try turn the radio up or down and then they learn to leave it alone.

Don't touch my radio :cartel:

Had the radio knob problem too
Easiest was to give the knob a good few fast turns, while the radio is off ofcourse
Not sure if it loosens builtup dirt on the inside or what, but it worked for me

Lols...my car does the same thing, looks to be a very common issue. Never really bothered me as i use the steering control.

Just assumed it was like a faulty rheostat or something, thanks for the tip Rodga will give it a try..

that would have been my next step
but the fast turning of the knob for a minute or 2 worked for me

If I recal, when I accidentally bump my volume control button, the words to the effect "SPEED VOLUME" come on the screen, at the same time as the volume goes to an annoyingly loud setting

Speed volume is set where the bass/treble is set. I still don't know what the different settings are, being 1 to 6. It's not louder as the number is higher cos I've tried that.

Speed volume makes it louder the faster you drive to counter road and wind noise

No man. I know that.

What I'm saying is that the options (1 to 6) are not softest to loudest as you go up in the range from 1 to 6. Each number is a different setting, not different volume.

AFAIK it should be a different volume for each number.
