not at all Chef I'm just comparing times..seems like someone driving a stock m in Jozi is experiencing the straight line performance of a mildly modded tec at coast thats it..cant compare the tec to a majestic m but the times are similar

Times are likely similar, yeah. No doubt a modded 1400 bakkie can do it even quicker. But then where's the fun/heritage/cool-factor in owning a 1400 bakkie? :)

hey my mother drives a 1400! is she the asshole :roflol: she doesn't really

still supports my theory as to why diesels seem to be more popular in Jozi.

You will be surprised how much fun owning a 1400 bakkie can be. Especially if it actually belongs to your mom, and you a student with a smooth tongue with the ladies.

I'd like to see a 1400 bakkie vs m5 in the corners too :crazylaugh:

It takes alot for a vtec to do low 14s in CT, FN2 Type r`s norm do high 14s, modded b16 vtecs low 15s, worked B20 vtecs do low 14s far as I know.

So no one on this forum has raced an e39 M5 over 400m LOL!!!??

I've got a lil vtec in my garage, it's jus a 1600,lol...what do you guys expect. The e39 M5 is no slouch at all, ive seen one race in high veld strapping a number of hot hatches at the drags....not standard tho

Me too, the day I did 14.6 with my super boss an ep3 type r was doing 14.4s and it had mods. I also had a 2L 16v Corsa with Itbs making 150kw. Most of them are good for mid 13s was a quick little car. Killed a few e36 m3s.
The m5 like its now feels a lot quicker than the corsa and my E36 and gets more speed over 400m than both those cars.

But there is only 1 way to find out. The M5 is a big ass heavy car. But it still makes almost 300kw and 500nm which it can put down on launch. I cant believe im the first on this forum to do this lol!

Nice Xack...theyre tons of fun at the coast. there were a few 14 sec 1600's about
Emphasis on few :)
My friends one was worked and quick and I think his best time was 14.9 or 15.0.
Quick car and loads of fun to drive :)
But I wudnt compare a e36 m3 to a tec. and def not an m5 lol :)

And yes u can spend 40-70k like guy do or build it into a crx or dohc and do good times.

But u can do that with a mk1 golf as well.

Personally for now Im done pissing my money into the ocean :) (aka modding a car) Hence the m5.

ET was here said:
and a blown motor at the end of the quarter mile, E39's are getting long in the tooth to still be dragged around, or not ?

Are you on drugs? That motor is bullet proof. Thrash 7 kinds of crap out of the car around a track on Sunday and drive it to work on Monday morning.

I cudnt break my E36 or E39 M, and if I ever do It will be a case of damn it finally broke!
LOL

From what I have seen on unprepared tracks online an E39 m5 does low high 12s-low 13s. With mods like headers, xhaust and tune 12.5.
We dont have headers for the M5 here tho.

Will see when the time comes. Killarney is an ice rink, so I wont be going there will road tyres! Semis FTW!
