e39 kilometre reading

Guys if an e39 is for sale how do I know if the kilos are genuine ( if no service history ) ? Can the clocks be swopped for one with a lower reading ? Have seen recalibrator advertised on gumtree !!:cursin:

Get the VIN and go to a BMW dealer. Depending on when the last visit was at a dealership, you should be able to get some useful info.

clocks can be swapped, cars can be coded... you have no clue...

There are tell tale signs, wear, bla bla bla

distance is also stored in several modules, not just the cluster, but you can fool that as well...

I have all the computers for the bmw's .. I can check for you if the mileage has been turned back or not

anyone selling shouldn't have any issues with someone coming to connect diagnostic equipment to make sure it hasn't been tampered with :)

btw what section of East London are you from ?

Thanks guys - was thinking of going up to Gauteng to look - here in EL only wrecks or double prices asked . ( E46 330i 2000 man R80k -bad job on front after accident - seen from 2 car lenghts away !!!!! )
@Clutchy am in Milner Estates - maybe we guys away from civilization ( gauteng ) need to use Gizmo to vett cars at a nominal fee :excited:
