Guys had a very sad day yesterday at 4am got caught in a huge flood went through it slowly and was very high car was fine parked car as another guy needed help to push his car out yesterday. Anywaysgot back in my car brake pedal made a squishy sound like water is somewhere there pressed it thrice and car died jst there .
Eventaully got atow truck took car home andchecked a couple of things i removed sparks and i changed battery still tick tick so i saw some water by my fliter cabin where the brake master cylinder sits and it was flooded flooded with water the hole at bottom was clogged with leaves and crap(one stupid small hole smaller then my pinkie).

Anyways i think motor is hydrolocked i tried turning it with hand and power bar nothing. :(:(:(:(:( i am super sad i love this car to bits and i spent a penny on her and she never gave me a days trouble. She is now officially dead because of a little water. Who can work on this v8s and who has parts for this m62 v8s . Im really speechlesa never thought something like this could ever happen to me:(:(:argh::argh:

Awh man... The same thing happened to me in Jan, caught in flash flood around a bend on a road that made a dip in the corner too.. absolutely no storm water drainage systems are being maintained anymore, slightest drizzle and there's floods.. so the water went all the way over my bonnet and it killed my N47 engine. Bent a conrod which caused hairline fractures in the block so BMW had to put in a new shortblock..

People always say how can this happen? well I can relate it happens so fast that before you know it the engine is dead and you didn't even have time to react. :bangdesk: it was a matter of 2/3 seconds and my engine was gone.. I wish you all the luck, I'm sure there are people here that can give you the best advice.

 gents the last time i had tears in my eyes was when my gran died , after trying to turn this motor in my garage yesterday I knew the outcome i literally had tears never even had supper:cry::cry::cry: .

I know i have no business owning a car like this with some type of engine warranty , but this happen so fast no indication nothing and shes gone 5months of pure pleasure I mean not even a miss beat this car would be jump inn and go and it pulled like a boeing and water killed it under 1minute .

I really hope she can be repaired . I called around to get some ideas masterparts sells only gasket set, pistons and big ends thats it nothing else.

Bmw agents are the only guys here in the cape I can source rods from and i was told R2650 each  .

I dont know whats really going on in the motor as its still in full tact , but i know the worse happened .

I was told by smg on the phone 20min ago they have 3clients that this happened to aswell yesterday a e90 and f10 .

I have no personal experience of this type of thing but won't this becovered by insurance. Damage to your car due to external factors. Get a case number and try your luck...

That sucks. Sorry to hear. First do what Fordkoppie said. Take out all the plugs and turn by hand and then decide.

Gents ok did this .

all plugs out seem dry .
Took off viscus and blades to get in power bar it doesnt move one bit not even a mm i tried moving it oppisite way with all my might and bolt came loose :nonono: . made it tight.

Do i need to take off alternator belt maybe ?

Gents if a rod is bent musnt the motor still turn over ?
Lastly I know this sounds dumb but my alternator tensioner pulley always sang like a little birdie on cold start can that maybe sieze up and cause the engine to lock with the belt on ?

Another thing is can the timing chains maybe do this ever as I have no history of the chains ever being replaced.

this is just very weird car stil idled for about 1minute , then Brake pedal felt very hard made sqauishy sound pump it 3 times and car died just there.

You can hear the starter trying to engage but motor doesnt move a inch .

I read of cars with bent rods where the motor can still turn over mine wont move a inch !

Got a qoute on parts just in case for complete overhaul kit at Bm R48000 EINA !

In the words of Nick Cave, "Death is not the end"

So the motor went poof...

Just search a little

Try Japan auto, boston japtech, gumtree and junkmail.

You should be able to source a motor for about 20 to 30k

However, check if no electronics were damaged.

Firstly drain the oil, then undo all the belts which could give resistance
when attempting to turn the engine. Spray some Q20/WD-40 into the cylinders (plugs out), leave overnight and try again the next afternoon. Whatever you do, do not loose your cool....do not try to get the engine turning by towing it in gear! Be positive, you'll beat this.

Do not turn the engine if it has hydro locked.

If you force it you will scrape the cylinder walls in there and cause even more damage.
Leave it alone rather.

It sounds like a strip down is needed.

Electrics are rather high on those motors and should be ok.

Very sorry to hear bud, really I am.

Kind of know how you feel with the witch out off commission for over a month now.

Hope you can get it fixed.

You can either assume it's done, or pull it apart and make sure. It's already not going anywhere, might as well open up and have a proper look.

That said, if you drain everything through the oil pan won't there be some signs of water??

If you managed to loosen the dampener bolt and it still did not move, then you have serious problems.

Stripping the motor would be the only solution.

I would have the insurance write the car off if it were mine, because even if you do get the motor running again the chances of having electrical problems after the flooding is very real
