e39 abs asc lights.

Hi Guys!

My ABS, ASC lights were on for many months.

Obviously, for many E39 owners, the 'control unit' comes to mind, if I am correct.

Anyway, I changed the two front tyres this morning and the lights went out!

I can't recall if it went out before the tyre change, but I am ecstatic!

I am very grateful and excited - I drove the car over 200km since the tyre change - braked hard and cornered on wet roads but the lights stayed off!

I played with the ASC switch and it worked!

Thank you to what ever solved the problem!

Any one experienced a similar problem, i.e. ABS, ASC lights remaining on?

clean the sensors and make sure your tyre pressure are right...
if the rear tires spin too slow the car will throw errors... in your case it seems the amount of tyre wear difference or tyre pressure was to blame :)

Dust and grime on the brakepad sensors tend to bring up these warnings.

Truvalu had this problem, and a good wash sorted his out.

Mine was also on when i testdrove the car before i bought it.

Somehow mine fixed itself and I have never had the problem again.
