STREETRACER, the ratio on the E39 540 steptronic is 3.15 same as M5, just opendiff vs M5's LSD.

I will not even go for a L/S unit on your car.. cause you will not be able to rev up on launch, shimming your diff will be more than enough to leave 2 black lines!

No we shim up the spider gears to run tighter! just gives you more 2 wheel delivery if the wheels turn in same direction or speed! still not enough lock up to drift but works great on launching on a straight road! why do you think my brothers 325i launches so hard with no L/S unit!

hmm, thats quite interesting.. cool beans. When LZ is done with my LSD, I wanna get a bracket made and finally install it in my E39.. I think it will be quite neat !

I dunno... am I the biggest E39 fan in the world?!?!?imp:

Just went off to do the balancing today. slight rattle at about 80km/h which was the only thing needed. Must say I just want to use this chance to confirm something.. MANY people (my dad for instance.. ahem!) said "uhm ja ham ahem rather consider MErc E class and blah blah blah.. and I DID testdrive a couple of E's (even other makes too)... and I am now AGAIN convinced... NOTHING drives like a Bavarian!! NOTHING!!!!!!!!!! I am a BMW FANATIC!!!! (E-class actually looks "cheaper" inside than the 5)

Ok... I"m REALLY considering doing some "funstuff" with my 540 so ja! CLUTCH and STREETRACER check your inboxes! :excited: Next time I come to Joeys I'll DEFINATELY hook up! (Clutchy - If you're passing Bloem before I'm in GP let me know and we can hook up!)
