Bud can be tuning as well! Some guys have shit AFR and 5gas anilizers and the result can be worse than before the chip! When tuning DASTEK you need wide band lambda's in an exhaust probe plus a decent gas anilizer which reads all 5 gasses acurately! We have gained plenty on some hooligans tuning even on SAC's tuning!
But then again some people just cant drive!
The guy with the RGM supercharged V8 ///M3 ran a 13.6 at komatipoort on the 6th of december last year! when STEVE GREEN jumped in the car he ran a 12.4 so yes launching experience , shifting and accelerator contol is crusial on big power cars! its easy to race a 1.6 golf another story if you run sidways in a beemer in 3rd!
But then again some people just cant drive!

Yeah, maybe it isnt tuned right, you can get a whole lot out of a 540i.
That story reminds me of when I was younger (must have been 2002/3), I was going around a track in a slightly worked 95 325i (lowered, wider tyres etc etc), I had been driving for maybe 6 months, and a pro race driver jumped in someones stock opel astra 1.6, and he beat my lap times convincingly.

Ok..... IT'S HERE!!!!
I picked up my 540i yesterday morning at King Shaka airport outside Durban and drove it to Bloem!! WhoohoohoooHOOOO!!! WOW!! It is a BEAUTIFUL car and it has AWESOME POWER (glad I didn't get a 530!!
) ... Haven't driven a BMW since I wrote off my 535 back when. Yus! My girlfriend freaks out for the car and I think she likes the 540 more than ME currently lol!!
I must say I cannot find ANY fault with the vehicle. VERY smooth and no funny sounds. INterior BEAUTIFUL. outside BEAUTIFUL.. just LOVE the mags and and AND! OK... two of the SMALL led's don't work.. but that is TWO only!

Fuel consumption was on the OPEN ROAD - 11.35 liters / 100km or 8.8 km / litre
ok... yesterday afternoon to this evening... used 18.8 liters / 100k or 5.3km / litre !!! OUCH!!!!! That's a bit fucked up isn't it?!?!?!?!:dropjaw:

Thats about right dude.
It is a 4.4 V8...
Tis the only down side... BUT, im comarison to other vehicles in its class, its still pretty good.
My M60 gives me 10.5 open road, and about 15-16 in traffic...
The olden days 328's and other cars gave you the same if not worse consumption....

I get between 6 & 8 Km's/ Litre in my 316i in town driving so you getting 5.3km/L in a 4.4l V8 is not bad at all
Only difference is the open road

AARGGGHHH!!! MAN!! I just flippen LOVVVVE my 540 it is the prettiest thing after my girl in the world!!! I sounds AWESOME!! GWAPM!! GWAPM!!! Drives like a SHIP.
Ok... my 5.3 km/litre consumption on Friday eve to Saturday eve seems to have had something to do with me using all the strength in my calves and legs... aHEM!! Seems like if you drive like your dad the consumption comes down quite a bit. HUGE difference between the first 2 gears and the rest.
Shit hey.. it is significantly quicker that what my E34 535i was standard.
OK... now I have ANOTHER flippen screwed up idea... NOw I have my E39.... NOW I also want to get an E34 5?? Want to use THIS One then as my SERIOUS TOY!! Just also LOVE E34's!

Im 100% positive you will out run a M5 with out cams! Im not looking for a fight or debate here! but do the same to the M5 and you have a Crazy fast car!!
540i with decent full pipe, filters, and chip will surely out run a STOCK E39 M5! I.M.O!!!
ive got a plan! Get Mbouwer to come visit me for a day or 2 and orgonise a M5 for the fight and lets see!
I we can not get an M5 for the race! ill test mbouwers car on my Vbox and some one can just send us his data loging (screen shot) to compare the two!
this is going to be a fun project if Mbouwer is up for it!

Mine allready has a custom exhaust, but stock headers, unichip allready (just bridged out at the moment), I don't like aftermarket filters so I use paper only.
I will post some results when I get my flywheel done. current one is giving a misfire.
will be nice to compare the two, auto vs manual also. not only 540 vs M5.
we can compare 540i auto, 540 man, M5.
will be eleet.

Who is building your clutch? AACC in PTA makes my flywheels and can also do the timming gear for 30-1 timming!

TNT Branch and freeflow, DASTEK uniQ chip, BMC replacement filters... Im just trying to find out the std diff ratio on the steptronic 540i, but shorter diff is the key ingredient for our M5 eater recipe! There is other odds and ends in the setup but that we can discus when you get here! I dont mind sharing trade secrets eye to eye!!!
