If anyone is looking for a 3.15 open diff for E39 540i, drop me a PM, I found a car in a scrapyard with this diff, but Im holding out for a M5 diff (same ratio).

but if you dont know, the 3.15 diff is about 10% shorter than stock 2.81 diff which effectively delivers 10% more torque to your wheels. More torque is better than less torque. The only negative with this upgrade is slightly higher rpm in all the gears, works out to about 2500rpm at 120kph in 6th. Very acceptable for a V8 methinks.
This upgrade was the single best thing I did to my E34 540. These go for upwards $1500 in the US and are very hard to come by.
