E39 530d Water Hose Failure

I have replaced all engine water hoses on my 2001 530d in October 2011. In Feb 2012, the lower radiator hose failed (clamp went through the rubber). I have had 4 subsequent failures of the same nature from the very same pipe. Could this be a faulty batch or is there some other explanation ?

Rubber hoses does not like to be overtightened. Strapping that clamp until the rubber bulges does not mean it's tight, it means you will replace the pipe soon.

Rubber needs the room to adjust to temperature changes.

It might also be engine or gearbox mounts causing the problem. That pipe is relatively short and fat and excessive movement would certainly shorten it's life.

There is also different types of clamps. I don't know what you cal them, but you get a type made for hoses as the normal clamps have sharp edges that damage the hose. I tried to find the posts where I read it, but can't. Does someone else here know?

These are OEM pipes - Cause of failure narrowed down to drops of diesel
