Thanks guys!!

Really glad to have her back to normal running condition - don't think I'll get tired of driving the 5er

@Legacy: Hopefully no other threads will come up, but I'm taking damn good care of her. If something does though, you'll be the first to know ;)

*sigh*
So the issue is back again. Noticed the heat guage creep up to around 2 'o clock again the other day.

Seems like my radiator has a slight leak too.... not even sure if the car is over heating because the needle fluctuates far too much. Goes up to 3 'o clock and then suddenly drops back down to band on 12 'o clock, dead centre :(

Getting a full computer and mechanical diagnostic done on Wednesday morning, but in the mean time - any ideas? Possibly a faulty thermostat.... just not sure where all the coolant in the radiator is going.

Took my car through to SMG on Wednesday for a diagnostic, and ended up sorting out the over-heating issue once and for all. Replaced:

  • Water pump
  • Thermostat + housing
  • Tappet cover
  • Cooling system bleed and re-fill

Now to fix the dent in the side skirt :argh:

You should redo your radiator hoses, expansion tank, and viscous fan as well. It's expensive but so is a new cylinder head :fencelook:
