e39 523i engine cuts off

Good Day guys,

I have a 1999 BMW 523i. 370,000km.
for first time yesterday, on a long trip, engine cut off ~every 100km while driving.
As engine cuts off, all is working but
. rev counter at 0 while in gear at 120km/hour
. ASC light on.
The car restarts after 20mn drives for ~1 hour, cuts off again...

Have you guys got any ideas of what could be the cause?
