Thats a good option..

I did it on my 316i and noticed a tiny increase in power :) basically the drivability of the car improved, like when doing 60 in 3rd I could just stay in 3rd where I used to have to change down to 2nd sometimes

interesting. i need a quick fix man, this is my daily drive.

i was told its about R1200 hence y i asked around but after calling masterparts this morning, they quoted me R440 excl. Will probably just go that route and take it to my own mechie instead of the company that told me its R1200.

The viscous fan delete is definitely the way to go. Maybe keep it on future mod plan.

The R440 excl isn't all that bad.

Hope you het it fixed. ASAP.

Having done a lot of preventative maintenance i suggest you urgently look at the plastic elbow at the back of the cylinder head as well as the y-piece below the inlet manifold (a pig to replace) as i did it on a 1995 316i M43 motor and the plastic pipes were leaking and did not have the o-rings sealing any more (see pics) . I have a brand new elbow for sale (the one at the back of the cylinder head) which i bought for a friends car and it turned out that the one i replaced about a year ago was still fine, was the head that had corroded but i fixed that with gasket former.
