E36 Test codes

Hey guys,

So i jumped in my new car the other day and thought i'd go through some of those secret testing codes (press 1000 and 10 at the same time and then select a test) and the weirdest thing happened. It only gives data on a couple of the tests like the first one that checks the OBC screen and the country code. All the other ones just go back to the test selection menu :'/

I've tried it with the car off and on and even while driving, nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

Wow, I feel kinda stupid now... I've read this before but I didn't take note, all the ones that work for me are the ones that don't require an unlock... I'm sure this is it, I"ll check on my way home later.

Thanks for picking that up :)

I think you have to select 19 and then unlock it for the other stuff to be available. Also try the cluster test for age of car, kms since last service etc. With car switched off, hold km reset button and turn ignition to pos 2. Do not start the car. You will see test 1, press again, see test 2, it will cycle through all info and automatically do cluster test. Do not be alarmed when whole cluster light up and rpm speedo needles go wild, just a test. Just be careful when you do all of the above. Read up on the net first. Have fun...

I used to user this one a lot, also test 9 for battery voltage when I had a little sound put in the car.
