Morning all

Is the centre badge of the steering wheel replaceable on its own? I noticed mine has 2 indentations and want it changed asap (may be related to almost being run off the road this morning and subsequent hooter action....)

I drive an an M3 so not sure if the badge on the steering wheel is any different to other e36's?

Thanks!

Dave

Hey Dave,

I had the same steering wheel emblem dents on my e36 (RIP ) I know how irritating it can be.

As far as I know, you cannot remove the old badge as it is part of the cover so you will need to find a bubble type sticker to stick over it. I found mine on ebay, it only cost 10 bucks or something and looked perfect.

Some people ask about if sticking these on can be a problem should the airbag deploy...in my experience, the badge had no effect as the air bag as it does not come through the wheel cover but from underneath and sides.

Good luck!

NEVER!! My ///M is santorini blue which matches the badge in colour. Also plan is to keep her 100% stock and original, forever.

Still deciding whether to go with a sticker on top or the dental floss removal route... replacement definitely not the easiest route it seems.

@ Burgy - that's not to say I don't like what you've done with your ///M - just now that the e36 is over 12 years old i feel she's past the phase of accessories and mods. Very much like the expression; "mutton dressed as lamb" ... Just wrong. :=):

FYI... I ordered one off ebay (45mm, flat, aluminum/carbon fiber) and it didn't sit right, because the emblem on my '95 e36 was stamped and dome shaped. I went to my local BMW motorcycle shop and they had a 45mm dome/concave shaped one! It seals the edges so it sits flush with the outer ring. I did use an Auto/Marine silicone to secure it on there in addition to the adhesive backing it came with. It looks good and appears factory enough where an average person not familiar w/ an e36 will think it's factory.
