Hi guys ,I’m having an issue with my 97 e36 328i convertible .The roof is fully automatic and was working perfectly ,after the guys at the car wash pulled the lever underneath the backseat of the vehicle ,everything got disengaged and found it difficult to put back together .

Note:the roof is not able to open manually ,the tonneau cover is stuck .

Currently the motor of the top is completely disengaged .
However I am not able to re-enagage the top motor as something is preventing it from locking in place

The tonneau cover seems as if stuck and the motor did not disengage at all .
How do I rengange the motors without breaking anything Or causing any damage
If anyone can help it would be much appreciated
Thanks !!!

Once the motor is disengaged it has to be syncronised otherwise you will not be able to operate it automatically again....there are 'marks' that should be re-alined for it to function correctly.....it would be easier if you could do it by plugging a computer into it to 'reset'

the manual function works on exactly the same principle as with the 'auto' function....ie. it has to be opened and closed in a specific way or else it would not work!

do not force anything as you might bend or over twist the cables that operate the roof in auto function....hope this helps.....if not drop me a PM and I'll call you to get it re-set over the phone. Cheers
