E36 Roof lining replacement - how to ?

I have a 1996 318i and sadly the roof lining has started to sag.

I've enquired at the shop where I have the car serviced whether they could maybe replace it, but they say that the particular model's roof lining spares
have been discontinued.

So now that jackpot question is how am I going to fix it? Any ideas?

Take it to an auto trimmer of some sort, they can usually sort it out for you in a day.

Ok cool could you recommend anyone on the Centurion, Midrand area maybe?

got mine done at a guy in Northriding, cost R1400 last year. The grey is not a 100% match to the rest cause the rest is 18 years old... But the work he did was great. If I was in the position of getting it done again, I would go for Black & get all the other bits done as well..

I cant recommend anyone in that area, as I dont know anyone there...

Yeah, if you get the standard grey colour, it will look a bit brighter and cleaner than the rest of your interior, as it will be fresh and new. You shouldnt be paying more than R1500 for your roof lining to be done.

OK cool I get the idea - I'll start searching for someone who does this sort of thing and hopefully get my car looking new again :)

Thanks

Easy enough to do, but as you said, the fabric is a problem. The stuff the upholsterers use is thicker so it looks puffy. Last I checked you coudl still buy the material from BMW, but it was about R3000 and still wont match the rest of your faded interior.

Do you have a contact number or name of the establishment where this was done?
