Did the 328i Individual come out from the dealerships with 235/40/17 profile tyres all round or did it come with narrow and wides like the M3?

Mmm... I didn't bought my car directly from the dealers. Got it second hand 4 years ago...

What I did see though is that my front was 225/40/17 and the back was 235/40/17.

Now I had to change the 40 to 45 due to 225/40 not being produced for normal tires (only runflats :banghead: ).

Why i'm asking is because I got the July 1997 CAR magazine where they did a test on the E36 4 door M3. The front rims are 7.5J and the rear 8.5J, therefore the front tyres are 225/45/17 and the rear 245/40/17

I also have the brochure for when the E36 323i Individual was launched. On there it states "32 radial alloy rims with 235/40 ZR 17 Continental Tyres" which is for both front and back.

Im assuming that both your front and back rims are the same width.

Depends which version you bought, mine has 235 all round, it was one of the first. the newer Indiv came with the wider tires hence the rim is call M-Contour II.

Ok because on the E36 forum, there were guys that felt the 235/40/17 was too broad for the front and changed down to 225/40/17.

Lev do you have any problems with the 235 in front ? does it touch the fender when you turn the steering wheel fully

IMO for 328iM Individual tyres are like on M3

Front : 225/45/17
Rear : 245/40/17

I also tried 45 profile on the rear to give a bit more ground clearance for some speed bumps & lowers engine RPM a bit

Interesting Link Lev..... Some of those guys are driving with 235/45/17  I've seen those tyres on a E36 and I find the profile too thick for the rim.

Lol I agree more like an X3 28i Individual :p but I agree with the guys reasoning for bumps etc...

I personally like a lower profile tyre but Im still running the tyres the car came with (can't actually afford new tyres anyway) but my dad used to the 235/40/17 on his 328i many years ago and that car was fine also.

Even thought the 2dr M3 came with 7.5 and 8.5J from factory it still wore 235 all the way around. Dunno if that applys to this car though.

In hindsight, here a update/correction on my E36 328iM, i have stated here earlier.

328iM 'Motorsport/Individual' did NOT have exhaust 'brances' fitted, but
the engine is specified (via BMW's build-sheet) as 150kW power compared
to the standard 328i at 142 kW. I 'suspect' a DME software update to be
responsible for the slight increase in power to overcome the 'extra'
drag due to the M3 'style' body kits fitted.

Anybody else here to add any info ? please do..!
