Greetings all. Newbie here.
I recently did the head, rings and bearings on a buddy's 328i M52. Initial startup was perfect and everything was as it should be, until the engine died without fuel..
Got fuel but the following startup was painful. This time it sounded like a ping on the engine and it would sometimes stop dead while the key is being turned. It also picked up a misfire (which is probably gunk from the bottom of
the tank), in the fuel system now.
I have reset the ECU, switched over coils, changed plugs, traced wires and basically done all I could think of.
Have any of you had such an issue..? I'm in dire need of some advice please, especially on the bad startup part and the lack of power. I have to say that I'm not that clued up in troubleshooting issues on this and an idea I had was to advance timing on the engine, but don't see how that is possible with this engine..
