E36 M3 VALUE

To me it seems like the only ones that think the E36 is appreciating in value is the people that currently own one. I could be wrong, but either way, I agree with Yuben on this one. It's a nice [AUTOMOBILE] , nontheless.

To ME the biggest difference the older cars give you is emotion, the new cars may give you achievement of being able to afford it, but the emotion attached to owning cars you wanted growing up is priceless

+100,

Absolutely love this representation of what it means to some of us!

Us E36 M3 fan boys have to sing the praises of the car we hold so dear.

Just out of interest in 1994 Car Magazine reported the list price of the M3 coupe at R210k....thank you Google. Now 22 years later it's not difficult for a seller of a moderately decently maintained car to get between R125k and R150k. That's not to shabby for a car holding value over time.

Agreed, but some of the values mentioned in this thread is unrealistic, but that's my opinion.

The values do seem out of the norm but I'm sure that there are a few people out there who may be able to indulge even at those numbers if the particular car meets their exacting standards. Similar to what happens with the E30 325is.

Then try buy a mint one.
If you find clean coupe's, be it one or a few, sub 150k, send them all my way

Plenty of them for sale at the R120 - R150k Mark that would need at least another 60k minimum and that's only mechanically. Look into cosmetics and you easily in for over 100k
Trust me I know, been there done that

I owned a e36 M3 7 years ago, sold it because I wanted something newer. Today I have a E60 M5 and have taken over my dads f16 X6 M as he never uses it so it parks at my place.

For some strange reason having the two cars above, all I can ever think about or look for on auto trader, gumtree and the for sale section is this type of thing right here:

Maybe I'm crazy I don't know!!!

Don't try and find logic to it....there's none

As mentioned in the forum it's emotion (not usually common sense)

Here you have use of new, great machines yet you craving for your old love....

I think Yuben is delusional.

List of people who want to report me for it can add names here.

And you can ban me for that comment but anyone who feels that E36 M3's aren't rising in value has been living under a rock.

Yes there are dogs/code 3's/ AAPV cars out there that can be grabbed for sub 100k, but they all need work, not just internet imaginary work. And that work costs money.

What they may or may not be worth is subject to the buyers expectations, but we are past the point of anyone taking a loss on one.

We've been down this road with the 325is, 3 years ago the Yubens of this world weren't prepared to pay over R100k for one.

No offense bud, but have a look around.

Question is how much would you be able to insure it for assuming you spend R250k on it:skit:

Easy you become a BMW CCG member get a valuation from the club as its either rare, classic or both and insurance will accept.

Mine was insured for one day at trade R65k until I got my valuation from the club.

I think that it's a bit of both.

A mint e36 probably is worth 250+ to a collector.

A normal, good nick e36 for over 200k is extremely optimistic for the standard car buyer.

So yeah, if your e36m3 is mint and original and perfect, then I think you can easily demand upward of 200k and wait for somebody who desires a "pure" car. But you'll need to wait for the right buyer - I can't imagine people are flocking up to buy 250k+ e36m3's.

I don't think general e36 m3 prices are on the rise... They all still around the r100k mark. Its def not like a 325is.... But if there is an absolute minter of an example it will fetch up to three times the value of the avg Joe e36 m3

Sell as high as possible and buy as low as possible. Value doesn't come into the equation when its a "want" purchase. E30, E36, E46 are all on the increase as there are just less and less around. How fast they are increasing in value is another story. I think the later models will increase slower due to higher production numbers.
These "older" cars are purchases from the heart, not the head.

I can recall like last year some time , there was a green one with like 6000km on the clock, that sold for a pretty penny
