Hi Guys,

I would like to know what brand is the oem clutch on the S50B30? Is the BMW one a Sachs or LUK ?

First hand information only please!

Thanks

Both of them make good clutches. I don't think you'd go wrong with either.

Agreed. Although I completely relate to wanting to know the most correct information, I don't think it makes much objective difference when choosing between these two parts suppliers. Both will yield an OEM-level or better result, IMO.

Thanks for the input guys.

Why I really want to know whether the OEM is LUK or Sachs is because I am extremely happy with the feel of this clutch. I.e. The pedal force is high but not overly stiff, so I want to keep the same 'feel'. Not go softer or heavier.

The pressure plate spring force and design might be different between the 2, hence the 'feel' may be different.

So if anyone has first hand knowledge please chime in.

OK, well I will say that the LUK clutch in my E46 m3 has a lighter pedal depress action as compared to the previous clutch. To be honest, I prefer it, as it does not detract in any objective way from the driving experience.

When the release bearing went poof on my ex e36 M3, I replaced the clutch as well while the gearbox was out. The one inside was a LUK item, and the new one a Sachs. The new one had way less pedal effort.

And here I share Adi's sentiments. The lighter feel did not detract from the driving experience, and I preferred it. Also - everything else takes less strain, from the pedal bushings, to the master and slave cylinder.
With the Fords, its also a common occurrence that the Sachs units usually feel softer than the other brands.

But you cant go wrong with either. Shop around, and buy the one you can get for the best price.

Hallo Yash.

Who's makes the gearbox....ZF right? You have a ZF transmission.

Now who makes Sachs... Also ZF

So what clutch is fit..... Sachs.
