Hey Guys

Im looking for a German Spec M3 (avis blue)
There are a few in the 80-90 range. Then they seem to jump to 120k

Dont want to buy someone elses problems but dont want to be ripped off either..
What price should I expect to pay?

Hey Welcome to the forum.

Really depends on the mileage and the condition of the car. Im no e36 M expert but from experience id say that for an e36 M3 just over 100 000km - 140 000km youd be lookin at R120 000 for a very clean one.

Im sure theres some more e36 M owners on the site that could help you out a bit more

Whatever you do, dont be in a hurry. There are clean ones around, but guys want crazy money for them. Just hunt around and eventually the right one will pop up. Took me 2 years to find mine. Saw about 8 cars. Most were scrap.
Some people have very creative interpretations of 'immaculate, showroom condition'.

No service book? No history?
Walk away, and if possible, get one from the original owner. They hopefully would have taken better care of then then they 3rd or 4th owner.

I stumbled on a 1995 yellow M3 yesterday.

One owner car from new. He apparantly even went to collect it at the Durban port in '95.

Interior showed little wear. Mileage was 150k. with full books.

By chance the car had been sold that day for R130k.

Front bumper needed a bit of a touch up (scrapes at bottom). But for the rest it was immaculate!

Also saw a pic of a 1997 with 112k on the clock going for R112k. The guy came to look at my 325ci and showed me a pic of the M3 he was looking at. Firstly, the price is not even close to what they go for, and secondly it had a new "Z" number plate indicating it was registered recently. I told the guy to be very carefull. It might have been in a prang.

If not and it is clean, GRAB IT!!!!

As a rough rule of thumb, if it's less than R100k, don't waste your time ...

The guys who have clean cars are asking a minimum of around R120k - R130k. However, you still need to check these cars properly as some okes take chances.

What's your budget like because I've noticed quite a few clean E46 Ms dipping to around R200k ...

thanks for the replies guys..
My budget is max R100k and needs to preferably be up in joburg/PTA so that I can have someone go look at it.
pref avis blue or black, but not too fussy as long as its not yellow..

Ja think im gonna have my hands full find a decent German Spec..:banghead:

There seem to be quite a few 4 doors around, but then i might as well look for a clean 328 as im looking at turboing at of next year..

I really want the coupe.. :thumb:
So if anyone hears of one, please let me know
