E36 M3 just cranks??

Hey guys my e36 m3 died while driving home the other night and had a slight misfire while driving...Now it refuses to start, there is fuel and spark but it just cranks... also a squeeky noise coming from engine while the car cranks

What could the problem be??

Could be an engine position sensor issue

Crank sensor or cam sensor.

Crank sensor is at the front and cam sensor is on left side of the cam box.

In 2011 mine did exactly the same, it was the crank sensor.
Think i paid R350 back then from BMW.

Thanks guys for the input, I bought the crank sensor from the stealers for R1960... Put it in the car and still doesn’t want to start...

What do I do next?

Yes it’s madness, looks like it gets more expensive as the car gets older
