E36 M3 3.2: Main Belt Change Help/Info

Hi Fellow Fanantics

I am going to change my main belt next weekend hopefully as the current one has cracks on all the grooves.

Does anyone have some tips to help me out?
I have researched seem straight forward.

While I'm there:
Should I change the aircon belt? I must actually check the belt
Should I change the Tensioner pulley?
Should I change the Tensioner spring?

My car does not have any idle squeaks if it does (very seldom) I guess its related to the main belt but the tensioner immediately sorts that out.

What are your guys opinions?

Thanks in advance

Did a bit of reading in my Bentley's workshop manual(covers every E36 model). The tensioner is self adjusting so unless it malfunctions I don't think you have to worry about it. My advice is that you check it properly though. You don't want to have to open it up again after the work has been done. With regards to how difficult the job is...can't help you. They do mention that you should make the direction of rotation though. Good luck

Since you right there change the aircon belt as well. Also do the tensioner and idle pulleys.

Good luck.

I will be changing the aircon belt  all else seems fine.

But I do have to change my radiator pipes now (small leak), might as well, since I replaced all the other pipes...

Need to do and oil change as well :flyfun: this week...

I replaced so much for peace at mind... wont sell the car :inlove: or anytime soon

Hmmm. I also need to change my radiator hoses.

Please when changing them make sure to fill bmw coolant. M3s take 60:40 ratio.
