E36 interior fan

Hi Guys

just wanted to confirm

if my interfan on my E36 is only working when turn to "4" (the analog ac controls)

is the the "hedgehog"/ fan resistor that has gon faulty?

how do i test it in case the fan controls are stuffed?

Most likely the resistor (I think its called the final stage resistor)

The only way to check is to find a friend with an E36 and swap them out to see if it fixes the problem otherwise you can remove the covers to get to the fan and test the voltage at the plug that feeds the fan.

where is the resistor located?

Not 100%, but I think its behind the cubby hole on an e36.

Google should have some instructions on how to do it.
