You guys are right. I should have done this myself. Lazy. That's why I'm inclined to pay. This is the only way I learn. I hate wasting money. Don't have a lot to waste. This is a wake up call. Should be fixing most things myself. Being so old there are plenty of stuff to do. Yes Daniel you are right, this piece of wisdom has cost me.

School fees.

Or if you are not comfortable doing it yourself you should have asked here for some suggestions of places to go.

I understand.

What i meant was you get a quote and then come back to the forum and ask if it's reasonable before handing over any hard earned cash

I haven't handed over anything. There is a charge for the diagnostics and fault finding.

The replacement I musT still give the go ahead for

I guess this should be the final nail in this decision, they charging me R6643.43 ex vat for a agent fuel pump. Just got off the phone with Bmw tygervalley R4502 vat included for the pump. Now I'm a bit pissed.

Just replaced the fuel pump on my E36 328i yesterday. Complete blue unit with pump, strainer and sender unit cost me R1300 bought from Masterparts in Durban.

Did the swop myself this weekend. Got the complete unit at gw. People not to thrilled with the brand. They said it was oem but I don't think it was.
