E36 Engine bay

Hi guys.

I was wondering about this plug near the top right of my engine bay. The plug seems to be loose, want to know what it is so I can find a replacement. Does anyone know what this is exactly?

i think that would be your loom connection / main engine harness connectors. Not sure if that the correct name:rollsmile:

What does it do exactly?

It hooks your motor up to the ECU and then to the car...

Hahah you right! I guess when you looking at it you automatically perceive it to be the right side! thanks for pointing that out:thumbs:

On my 325i both those plugs are open......as in nothing is connected to them....so I doubt it's ecu etc etc etc... i don't have cruise control or traction control or stability control.....could it maybe be any of those?

I could be wrong but isn't that where they plug the tool in to reset the service lights etc etc....looks alot like the one i had on my E34...

No, that's the one on the left in the picture.
