E36 Convertible

I've had a number of Beemers, the first one was a 320i E90, which I absolutely loathed. Indicators, annoying bings etc etc.

It almost put me off BMW forever.

I then got a 7 series (E32), which changed my mind again, as although it was a tank to drive, it did feel like a big black shark driving through toyota infested waters :)

The previous owner of the 7 also had a 328i E36, and I bought that as a swap for the 7+ some cash, as he made me an offer I couldn't refuse.

My E36 convertible - when I bought it in December
Note the stupid fake M bling on side

First thing was to remove that - the M on the front could stay, as that was fine ;)
I also didn't like the black, so removed that also.

As you can probably guess, the plate isn't from South Africa, and thats because the car is in China.

I do live here (and there), so get used to it ;)

Here I drive a Merc 450slc :)

Looking for a hardtop for my 328i in Cape Town, so if anyone has one for sale.. I'm buying.

Car notes -

E36 328i.
- Plan to do the M50 intake mod.
- Has HID and Angel Eye mod, although will be changing color of angel eye to white instead of the current pink!
- Automatic, but it still goes like the proverbial rocket.

flied lice indeed..

I take it from owning an E90 as your first, that you have a fairly recent BMW history...

You have experianced the awesome E32ness.... which one. 740 ?

Can I recommend you also look at the E34 (same car, just smaller) and the legendary E39 as well..

Welcome bud, and be nice to those cats now :)

Yeah, E90 was my first, and as I said, hated every minute of it. Regretted buying it.
Car before that was a Jeep Cherokee which was fun, but I wanted something more businesslike at the time.
So... bought the E90, and then sold it about a year and a half later, as it was a hate/hate relationship.

E32 - was a 735iL
Heated seats, nice messages in the display about what ailed it today ;)
Very regal feel driving it, and it did have a bit of power in the 60km+ range once you got it moving.

E39 - never really liked the look of - always feels squished at the front.

My friend has an M5 2009 model, but I don't think much of it - interior is the same as the E90 pretty much, and although it does drive nicely, he also has the bing bing bing nanny syndrome that is annoying in all the newish beemers.

Once I get DIS, INPA etc going on my laptop again, I may take a look for him at how to turn it off (if it is even possible).

nope, not possible...

DSC is integrated into everything, no turning it off.

However, a decent ECU map will liven things up a bit, aparently those V10's are super tune'able...

Oh... you need to try something with the legendary BMW M60 or M62 motor in it.... and you will know what true love is :)
