E36 Computer box help

Hi guys not sure the right name than computer box, on the centre consol, e36, anyway just yesterday the display Lcd went on a blink.
The computer is still working because sometimes you can see the display numbers, very light but otherwise its sort of lit but no display, how can one go about to sort this out

The OBC that shows "check control ok? It's easy to pull out. Stick ur finger in the hole in the sunglass holder underneath it. There's 4 small bulbs in there. If u push it all the way out you'll be able to check if the plugs are in correctly. Hope u come right.

The bulbs just turn out.

Yeah, replace the bulbs and it will be right as rain

Sorry guys maybe I didn't explain properly, but the LCD is not completely dead, it lights up but the info is either very light or no info is displayed, will try post a pic

I recal many years ago, mine also gave problems, I can recal opeing it up, but for the life of me (old age) I cannot recal why and what the fix (DIY) was for mine

I just think that the Lcd display is on its way, it sometimes works then all of a sudden starts to fade (the info on display) then disappears and so forth

now that I see the dissasembly on BimmerForums, it is jogging my memory

I seem to recal that there is a contact strip that mates the glass of the LCD to the printed circuit (it feels like a rubber strip), and in my case it had become dislodged and possibly dirty, cleaned and ensured that it was seated/positioned perfectly, and all worked again

One thing that I noticed this evening, don't use car during the day, that when I switch on car the OBC lights up with very faint info, but normally as you drive its supposed to go off and only when you press a button its supposed to light up to get info, mine seems to stay on all the time with very faint info
