E36 Cold days

I'm still struggling with my cold start problem, as Í wanna buy the temp coolant sensor. My problem is will an after market brand work perfectly, as the 320i siemens dme is not friendly with aftermarket sensors. I once had a crank position sensor but it failed untill I get the oem, Goldwagen quoted R250 for both sensors and each oem is about R450 at club motor fountain. My main concern is aftermarket brands, any advise? My oem CTS is siemens. Thanks

You can trust Goldwagen, go to the one in Souter street in Pta west, ask for Marnevic, tell him Francois Spietkop sent you, my brother and him were in school together. :thumb:

I've used the Febi sensors and they are very good. My recent experiences with the Goldwagen stuff "Topran" for BMW has not been good. it's ok but not nearly as good as I expected.

@ Coisman - baie dankie, you once referred me to Jacques (Brooklyn) he helped me with ews2 allignment) will try Goldwagen next to Bemows, the did refund me when their crank sensor (topran brand) was not compatible with my car.

@rick540 - thanks, where can I get the Febi brand, I know its a good quality and what's the price range?

You guys are the best!!!

Will do so, I wanna be sure if Bemows do have Febi and/or do they do full refunds like Goldwagen. Next week I'll be sorting it out, But I also believe Goldwagen have Febi spares

i had a similar problem. but my question is why dont you check why your plugs are filling up with oil first, and then i would suggest checking your starter, because if its swinging but nothing is happening could mean no spark which would usually mean oil on sparkplug,to be honest i wouldnt just go and spend money,i went through spending money on everything that people suggested, but i kept on taking everything back, also maybe you must check the sensor on the head.

let us know whats the problem please, hope you come right

Went to Goldwagen and bought the Febi Bilstein coolant temp sensor, still the car won't start, i have fuel and spark but difficult to start. Any idea what else could it be? Any advise? please help guys

What did you pay for that part? I was told that in the summer the fuel tank builds pressure and thats why the car starts fine and in the winter its the opposite so the fuel pressure regulator might be stuffed. Thats what i have been told dunno if that makes sense!

Some other story was that the injectors have little plastics at the tips and in the cold they become too hard to let the fuel pass through, hence the car wont start. I dont believe that theory because if that was the case then every other E36 would have that problem not only our 320i's!

The fuel pressure regulator is plausible though.

@Yuven - the part cost R110 compared to Bemows R250, its also a Febi Bilstein product. I guess I figured out the problem is my ignition coils, I have petrol and power at the ignition coil harness but no spark. I also tested my coils they ohm reading is suppose to be 0.04ohm - 0.08ohm according to bentley but they read 0.15 ohms, I guess dats my culprit so I'm looking for good 2nd hand ones
:argh:
