So, in short... When I bought my car three weeks ago, both remotes on the keys would open/lock the car - the central locking was engaged manually using the key. A week later I replaced the battery in one of the keys (never got round to doing the second one) and it (the central locking) worked like a charm :inlove: Then for the last week or so, at times I would have problems locking/opening the car - but if I pressed hard enough on the remote/key, it would work:thumbdo: Saturday however, it just stopped working - no central locking at all
The remote still activates the alarm, but the doors don't lock - I have to lock manually with the key. Moreover, the key no longer engages the central locking. So if I open the driver door, thats the only door that opens. I have to manually lift the door knob for the passenger.:argh: Worse, the back doors don't open at all - the knobs don't lift - they have a funny feel when I try lift them...
I did discover last night that although the battery fits in the key, the one I replaced it with isn't the recommended battery.
So where is the gremlin? Got my car for 3 weeks now, and they (the gremlins) are driving me nuts. First a tail light failure brought on by a burnt out fuse - replaced fuse, error still there... then the car's battery needed replacing:flyfun:the low beam lilght also went and needed replacing - and now its the turn of the central locking...
Where do I go? BMW? Help???
