E36 Cabriolet Battery concerns

Hi all

I read in the Bently manual that the E36 Cabriolet needs a special battery fitted in order to minimise body scuttle and to improve rigidity. I was wondering if any of the Cabrio specialists can confirm this and has anyone come up with a sollution to get around paying through your @ss for a battery from the "stealers"?

I can find nothing in the owners handbook over this . Pg 125 gives 12V , 65 Amp/H . My 328i sedan has a 652 battery .
Varta normally has 24 month guarantee against 12 months for the rest .

Thanks Guys

Im am still concerned that the handbook said that I need a special battery that is 'vibration resistant'. This being because the battery is in the back and the body scuttle on a cabrio is quite harsh, now i have driven plenty of cabrios over the last month and not one of them had the same amount of scuttle as the other, mine has very little, but still, it must be true if it is in the handbook.

I will try to scan the page it is on.

thanks anyway!

Herewith the exact wording form the Bentley Manual: section 020-12

Design Characteristics od the convertable body cause vibrations to oscillate in the trunk area. therefore the convertable model uses a special battery design for this constant vibration. When replacing the battery, besure the replacement is specifically for the convertable.

Hope this helps

Interesting..... but I dont think it's something too serious to worry about.

+ 1 on the Varta battery, got one in my car, its slightly cheaper then a Willard & comes with a 2 year guarantee compared to 1 year other batteries offer.
